Wandering

We had a new experience yesterday.

I was very tired so Linda and I went to bed in the afternoon for a short nap.  I went to sleep very soundly and awakened with a jolt – no Linda in bed with me.

She didn’t reply to my call and a quick search revealed an empty house. Then there was a knock at the front door.  It was Linda.

She had gotten out of bed and put on her shoes without waking me.  Then she went out the French doors into the garden and came around to the front door.  It was still locked because she hadn’t gone out that door.

I was a bit shaken because usually I hear her get up and can monitor her movements.  I didn’t react very well and was cross with her which I should not have done.  Have to keep my composure, especially when there was no harm done except to my heart rate.

It may be time to consider interior combination locks on the doors.  These could be a bit dangerous but probably better than Linda wandering outside and getting lost.  Will have to do a little research on the best kind.

I’m reminded of the time when our Irish Setter, Meghan, was let out to play in the back yard.  She disappeared and we discovered that the gate was open.  After a bit of a search we found the dog sleeping on the front step.

I guess we have to keep our sense of humour and avoid getting angry and upset no matter how serious if seems to be.
